JumpStart

JumpStart’s mission is to inspire Cedar Rapids children to reach their educational potential by teaching vital lessons in leadership and academics—through the support of mentors and role models—as part of free sports programming at the Robert W. Plaster Athletic Complex.

The Program

When

  • June 2024 Dates: 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, 26
  • July 2024 Dates: 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17, 22, 23, 24
  • All programs will be held from 5:00 PM-8:00 PM 

Locations

  • All of our activities are taking place on campus at the Robert W. Plaster Athletic Complex.

Cost 

  • JumpStart is completely free of charge. Meals are included.

I actually did JumpStart last year ... I knew I really enjoyed it, and it was something I wanted to do again. So, when I found out I had the opportunity to do it again, I wanted to do it. I just like bonding with the coaches and just hanging out with all the other kids.

The Benefits

Availability

Through the JumpStart program, the Robert W. Plaster Athletic Complex will be available to local social service agencies and neighborhood organizations for their own programming, free of charge.

Camps & Clinics

Children and youth identified by partnering social service and neighborhood organizations will have the
opportunity to attend free camps and clinics hosted at the Robert W. Plaster Athletic Complex, as space allows.

Summer Programs

Mount Mercy students will develop and implement a robust summer evening program serving children
and young adults using sport activities and mentoring as a tool to leverage academic potential.
