Get a head start on your Master's Degree! 

Eligible MMU students can take up to 12 graduate-level credits in any of MMU's gradute programs during their undergraduate studies. 

The advantages to completing graduate courses during your senior year include:

• Graduate courses can fulfill remaining electives of your bachelor’s program

• Starting graduate coursework during your senior year gives you an early start towards obtaining a master’s degree

• Graduate courses taken during your senior year do not cost additional tuition and your current financial aid applies toward the courses. (Please note: A maximum load of 15 credits per semester is allowed; this includes undergraduate and graduate credits.)

Because of her insatiable reading habits, Eden Wales Freedman learned about the Holocaust when she was just three. “Even at that age, I was consumed with how such a great injustice could happen,” she says.

As she got older, her mother took her to the library to learn about the complex ideas she struggled with. “I discovered that it wasn’t just Jewish people who were mistreated. There were other groups: people of color, Catholics, Jehovah’s Witnesses, homosexuals,” she says. “I remember asking, ‘What happens if you’re a gay Jew of color?’ I wanted to understand the outcome if overlap occurs among the groups into which people are classified.”

Hoping to make the world a better place for the disenfranchised, Wales Freedman first considered becoming a lawyer when she entered college. Soon, however, she discovered that being an attorney wouldn’t bring her vision to life. After taking several English courses (because of her love for reading and writing), she instead became a high school English teacher.

Mount Mercy University Scholarship Day |  February 2, 2019

Scholarship Day is a great way to earn additional scholarship dollars to attend Mount Mercy University. Scholarships of $500 up to full-tuition are available (renewable for 4 years). 

Students who are interested in a music or other talent scholarship (art & design, theater, writing) may also audition/submit materials on this day.

Mount Mercy University is pleased to announce two transformational gifts, made possible by the philanthropic foresight of two MMU trustees and one alumna.

• MMU trustee Ron Herold and his wife, alumna Paula (Martin) Herold, have continued their generous support for Mount Mercy’s nursing education leadership with a life-changing gift—establishing the University’s first-ever named college, the Martin-Herold College of Nursing & Health. 
• An MMU trustee since 1988, John Rinderknecht has continued his generous support for Mount Mercy with a transformational gift to renovate the Rinderknecht Athletic Center. The Center will be a vibrant and compelling complement to MMU’s newly completed outdoor Robert W. Plaster Athletic Complex.
