Welcome to the Hill

Founded on academic excellence.

Mount Mercy was founded on academic excellence, offering students a values-based curriculum. Accomplished faculty are easily accessible with a ratio of 14:1 students per faculty member. Our students are often involved in faculty-led research and career-oriented internships with local, national, and global organizations.

The Mercy Difference.

What really separates Mount Mercy is our heartfelt commitment to service inspired by our foundresses, the Sisters of Mercy.

Our curriculum guides students in exploring and working towards a more just, equal, and peaceful world. Hands-on work often accompanies classroom learning, giving students the experience needed to start their careers with confidence in a variety of newly-developed skills and knowledge.

We offer a diverse and inclusive campus life with 25+ student clubs and organizations, allowing them to connect with others who share similar values and interests. Students are also encouraged to follow their passions in our many music ensembles, as well as in our athletic teams, which have more than 45 combined conference team championships.

Campus Ministry engages students and encourages exploration of faith through mass, spiritual direction, reflection groups, service learning, and volunteer opportunities.

We ensure that students can pursue their dreams with a diverse catalog and 40+ majors and minors to choose from, a number of pre-professional programs, specialized tracks, and a fast-track directly into our graduate programs.

Since our founding, our academic coursework has focused on service, ethical leadership, and social responsibility. For a Mount Mercy student, their classroom will often be the community itself, applying their knowledge to make the world a better place.

We strive to keep tuition rates affordable for students and families. In fact, our costs are among the lowest in the region for students seeking a private, four-year education experience.

With generous financial aid options and a focus on clear pathways to graduation, Mount Mercy is committed to partnering with students to make their MMU education an affordable investment. We also offer generous scholarships to help make continuing education attainable for all.

We are very transfer-friendly and accept up to 63 credits from community colleges. We also offer an easy-to-use Transfer Tool to help students figure out which of their previous courses will transfer.

Our Admitted Students page also provides an easy-to-follow guide of next steps for those who have been accepted to Mount Mercy University.
