Career Services

Career Services helps Mount Mercy students and alumni find professional employment opportunities, explore career options, polish resumes and cover letters, practice mock interviews, and more.

Career Exploration

Sometimes students come to college undecided about their career goal or college major. Or perhaps you thought you knew what you wanted to study, but now you're not sure. Each semester, Career Services offers a one credit hour class called Career Exploration and Self-Discovery, (CD004) that helps students identify their career interests and strengths, and to make informed academic and career-related decisions. Individual career assessment and consultation are also available by contacting the Career Services office.

Job Seeking Skills

Career Services offers one credit hour class called Strategies for a Successful Job Search, (CD007) that prepares students with the tools and knowledge needed to seek out and secure employment in today's job market.

Resume and Cover Letters

The Career Services Director is available by appointment to help you prepare your resume, cover letters, or thank you letters. Take advantage of this service to learn the best way to market your qualifications to prospective employers.

Mock interviews

Practice your responses in a one-on-one session, learn the best answers to common interview questions, and strategies for staying confident in the most stressful of job interviews.

Employment Opportunities

Whether you are seeking a part-time job, an internship, or a full-time position following graduation, Career Services can help you locate opportunities to fit your needs. Many employment listings can be found through CareerClicks and JobTrek on the Mount Mercy website.

Graduate School

Some of you may choose to follow up your bachelor's degree with a graduate degree to prepare for your chosen profession. Information on researching graduate school and registering for placement exams is available through Career Services.

Career Resource Library

Our informal career resource library is located in the Career Services office during regular office hours. Students may borrow materials for up to two weeks at a time.
