Understanding the field

What is Marriage and Family Therapy?

Marriage and family therapy is one of several core mental health professions along with mental health counseling, psychology, and social work.

It stands out because it takes a systemic approach to mental health. Our program is grounded in the idea that people are influenced by a complex set of factors—or systems. By gaining a complete understanding of these dynamic systems, marriage and family therapists are equipped to help individuals, couples, families, and children.

Combine research and clinical experience

Marriage and Family Therapy programs are not all the same

Our programs provide personalized and student-driven learning, allowing you to work alongside faculty within a highly personalized environment.

Our marriage and family therapy programs are also flexible. Created especially for working professionals and clinicians, we merge in-person, online, and residential intensives with inclusive requirements. Classes are held at night and in nontraditional 5- and 10-week blocks to help you balance work, school, and life.
