About

Dr. Caroline Gimarc began working at Mount Mercy University in 2022 as the Director of the university’s Counseling Services. She continued in this role until 2025, when she was offered a position as an assistant professor of marriage and family therapy at MMU. Dr. Gimarc prized working with students as the director of counseling services, but was thrilled by the opportunity to get more directly involved with MFT students and their training. She loves getting to teach, supervise, and do research with students in the MFT program.

Dr. Gimarc earned her PhD in Couple and Family Therapy from Kansas State University. She earned both her bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies and her master’s degree in Couple, Marriage, and Family Therapy from Texas Tech University. Dr. Gimarc has expertise in quantitative research methodologies and advanced statistical analyses. She enjoys doing research to test and evaluate MFT theories using advanced statistical modeling. In her clinical work, Dr. Gimarc is a generalist who finds particular meaning in working with individuals, couples, and families as they experience major life transitions.
