The Mercy Difference

What really separates Mount Mercy is our heartfelt commitment to service inspired by our founders, the Sisters of Mercy. Meaningful service is woven into the very fabric of college life at Mount Mercy—academic classes, clubs and organizations, and our students, faculty, and staff.

The Sisters of Mercy identified five Critical Concerns—earth, immigration, nonviolence, racism, and women—which form the basis for our core curriculum. Our students come from diverse faiths and backgrounds, but we all work together at Mount Mercy to promote the Sisters' vision of a world that is more just, equal, and peaceful.

Vibrant Student Life

From the moment you sign the tunnel walls, you're officially a Mustang!

The Mount Mercy campus, located in a safe residential neighborhood in Cedar Rapids, provides a vibrant and supportive environment to explore new interests and make lifelong friends.

You’re invited to join one or more of our 30+ student-run clubs and organizations, like our nationally-ranked Enactus Team, the Student Government Association, and the Mount Mercy Times, our student newspaper.

Student life off campus is just as interesting. It's common to find our students interning at local businesses, student teaching at area school districts, and volunteering at social service agencies.
