Andrew J. Lorig presented with President’s Award at Mount Mercy University Honors Convocation

Andrew J. Lorig of Lena, Illinois, received the prestigious President’s Award at Mount Mercy University’s Honors Convocation on Friday, May 12.

The President’s Award is given each year to a graduating student who has demonstrated a strong academic record, positive engagement in the campus community and service to others during their tenure at Mount Mercy. The honoree also illustrates the best in student tenacity, dedication, compassion and heart.

Lorig was an active participant on Mount Mercy’s campus. He was on the men’s track and field team and a member of the Begging for Mercy improv group. He served as a tutor in the Academic Center for Excellence and was a biology and chemistry work-study student. Andrew was particularly proud to present his National Science Foundation summer research at the American Chemical Society Spring 2023 meeting in Indianapolis.

Andrew graduated on Sunday, May 14, with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. He will pursue his PhD in chemistry at The Ohio State University.
