Gwen Johnson '22 presented with President’s Award at Mount Mercy University Honors Convocation

Cedar Rapids native Gwen Johnson '22 was recognized by Mount Mercy University with the prestigious President’s Award at Honors Convocation on Friday, May 13.

The President’s Award is given each year to a graduating student who has demonstrated a strong academic record, positive engagement in the campus community and service to others during their tenure at Mount Mercy. This award honors people in circumstances that illustrate the best in student tenacity, dedication, compassion and heart.

 

Gwen was an active participant on Mount Mercy’s campus. She served as the Opinion Editor of the Mount Mercy Times. During her tenure, she was awarded second place blog and first place staff editorials by the Iowa College Media Association. She served as the president of ECO Club and was a member of the Alliance Club. She also was a chemistry textbook editor during her time at Mount Mercy.

Gwen graduated on Sunday, May 15, with a Bachelor of Science in science marketing with a minor in communications media. She aspires to communicate science to the public in an approachable way.
