Mount Mercy University graduate Connor Christophersen, a native of Cedar Rapids, received the Sister Mary Frances Warde Award during the 2020 virtual Commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 17.

Christophersen graduated with a bachelor’s degree in management and marketing.

This award is the highest honor given to a student who transferred to Mount Mercy, achieved the highest academic achievement honors, and embodies our vision of a Mercy education focused on academic excellence, leadership, and the value of lifelong learning. The award is named for Sister Mary Frances Warde, who founded the Sisters of Mercy in America in 1843.

Christophersen transferred to Mount Mercy in 2017 from the University of Iowa. During his time as a Mustang, Christophersen was an orientation leader, was elected vice president of the Student Government Association and helped engage several new clubs while starting one of his own, the Billiards Club. He also represented the student body at alumni and Board of Trustees meetings while working on campus at the Office of Admissions and off campus with an internship at Schimberg.

"I often forget Connor has only been here three years because his impact on the Hill has been so significant," said Mount Mercy University President Laurie Hamen. "We are proud of your tremendous, excellent work to make MMU and Cedar Rapids a much better place. We can’t wait to see what you accomplish in the future."

Congratulations, Connor!
