Prior to his role at UT-Tyler, Beatty served as the Dean of the Lutgert College of Business at Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, FL; the Dean of the Rohrer College of Business at Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ; and the Dean of the School of Business at Whitworth University in Spokane, WA. Additionally, he served as a member of the faculty at Northern Illinois University, Texas Christian University, Miami University, and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Dr. Beatty began his professional career as an officer in the United States Air Force. He served as a systems analyst/project manager/quality manager at Strategic Air Command Headquarters at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, NE. Subsequent to his military career, Beatty worked at Amerada Hess Oil Company and then joined Kellogg Company to lead the organization’s emerging E-Commerce Department.
Dr. Beatty holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Texas Christian University, a Masters of Science in Computer Systems Management from Creighton University, and a Masters of Business Administration and Doctorate of Business Administration from Mississippi State University. He is a graduate of the Institute for Management and Leadership in Education Program at Harvard University.
Dr. Beatty and his wife Raynette are the parents of two grown children, daughter Shelby and son Sean.
