Join guest speaker Jill M. Gerschutz-Bell for a presentation on Voting Your Values. Gerschutz-Bell is the co-editor of And You Welcomed Me: Migration and Catholic Social Teaching and brings extensive expertise in faith, social justice, and public engagement.
About Jill M. Gerschutz-Bell
Jill M. Gerschutz-Bell has spent nearly two decades in public policy, most of those in Washington, D.C. For 13 years, she advocated before the United States government for appropriations for international humanitarian and development funding, for policies protecting migrants and refugees, and for reform of immigration policies and international assistance, among other matters. Prior to those roles, Gerschutz-Bell advocated for street children and victims of trafficking with Casa Alianza in Costa Rica and for accountability to affected populations at the International Federation of Red Cross & Red Crescent Societies in Geneva. Gerschutz-Bell served as a Junior Fellow at the Woodstock Theological Center at Georgetown University, during which time she frequently lectured on the book she co-edited, And You Welcomed Me: Migration and Catholic Social Teaching. She also served as a fellow in the Transatlantic Forum on Migration and Integration hosted by the German Marshall Fund. Gerschutz-Bell holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Spanish from the University of Dayton, where she graduated summa cum laude. She also holds a Master of Arts American University School, during which time she also studied law at Oxford University. Finally, Gerschutz-Bell holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Dayton School of Law, cum laude. She has spoken widely and published articles on immigration and development, most recently, Membership in a ‘Particular Social Group’: The Narrow Access to Asylum for Gang-Affected Youth.
