Health Care Leadership—
Martin-Herold College of Nursing & Health

Mount Mercy University’s health care leadership major is designed to help students with an A.A.S. advance in their careers.

For professionals who want to take the next step in health care, Mount Mercy’s health care leadership major is the perfect fit. The program enriches core leadership and builds business competencies through a series of courses and experiential learning opportunities that are focused around the many facets of health care.

Giving working professionals a head start at earning their Bachelor of Applied Science degree from Mount Mercy, associate degrees in the allied health areas from accredited community colleges (associates of applied science) are accepted in whole. Additionally, as a way to help individuals meet personal and professional demands outside of class, two options of study are available. Students can choose traditional on-campus, semester-long courses, or select evening accelerated courses offered in five-week and ten-week blocks throughout the year.

Students in the health care leadership program will gain confidence in their leadership skills while learning strategic business insights and ways to apply their skills and knowledge in the health care industry. Among others, the array of courses focused on health care leadership include: Accounting, Principals of Law, Human Resources, Quality Patient/Resident Care, Management, Program Development, and Political and Public Policy.

Students from our health care leadership program gain additional experience through internships with organizations such as Mercy Medical Center, UnityPoint-St. Luke’s Hospital and University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.
