About

Jack Frank serves as Director of Bands and Assistant Professor of Music at Mount Mercy University

Jack conducts the University Band, Jazz Band, and Pep Band, and teaches Music Theory, Conducting, Instrumental Methods, and other courses on campus. He also travels throughout Iowa as a marching and concert band clinician and judge.

A native of Marion, Iowa, Jack graduated from Linn-Mar High School. He earned his Bachelor of Music from the University of Iowa in Bass Trombone Performance and Music Education. After teaching for three years at West Branch High School, he got his Master’s in Music from the University of Northern Iowa in Instrumental Conducting.

Most recently, Jack served as the Director of Bands at Central East High School in Fresno, California. Under his direction, the groups received consistent Unanimous Superior Ratings. The Central East Wind Ensemble was accepted into both the Sutherland Festival of Bands and the Music for All San Joaquin Valley Concert Band Invitational, as well working on recording projects to help under-represented composers.

Jack maintains a strong passion and schedule of writing marching band drill, arranging, transcribing, and holding recording sessions. He also enjoys spending time with his family, wife Bri, and puppy Gigi.
