About

Tom Castle has been with Mount Mercy since 1990 and has served as an Associate Professor, Department Chair, Dean, Associate Provost, and Assistant Vice President & Vice Provost prior to his role as Provost & Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Before coming to Mount Mercy, Castle served as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Iowa and worked as a marketing consultant. He returned to the University of Iowa to earn his PhD in higher education in 2014.

Castle is an active member of the Council for Accelerated Programs (CAP), serving as chair from 2013-2015. He is also past member of the National Faculty Advisory Council for Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE). His Mount Mercy SIFE teams won regional championships 13 consecutive years and received many national awards. He has served on several committees at Mount Mercy, including the Administrative Leadership Team, Graduate Policy Council, and Strategic Planning Committee. In 2008, Castle developed and directed Mount Mercy's accelerated MBA program for working adults, and he continues to provide leadership for all adult-focused initiatives.

Castle volunteers his time to the community, campus organizations, and the adult student market across the country. In 2016 he was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Council for Accelerated Programs for his extensive work with managing and teaching adult students. Castle regularly speaks at adult-student conferences, conducts webinars, and consults with other adult-focused programs across the country.
