Today Mount Mercy is blessed with more than 195 endowed funds — designated by donors for scholarships and other purposes — and our endowment value at the end of Fiscal Year 2014 stood at $23.9 million.
The vast majority of our endowed funds are scholarships, which are awarded every year to students who meet the qualifications provided by the donor. Some scholarships are designated for students with certain majors; others designate preferred geographic locations. But the vast majority are awarded to "worthy and deserving students."
Other endowed funds provide funding for specific curriculum, on-campus programs like Enactus, annual lectures, new technology and facilities like Basile Hall or the Grotto reflecting pool.
Your endowment can support what matters most to you, both now and for generations to come.
Only a portion of an endowment's earnings are used every year for the cause determined by the donor, so the minimum requirements to establish an endowed fund involve the following levels of funding.
|Faculty Chair||$500,000 minimum|
|Lecture Series||$100,000 minimum|
|Other endowed fund designation||$20,000 minimum|

Endowed scholarships are investments that are held in perpetuity. The investment earnings are used to provide scholarships to deserving students each year, creating a legacy of support. Our Mercy mission comes with an obligation to help ensure that a Mount Mercy education remains affordable for all students and families. We are grateful to generous donors who partner with Mount Mercy to establish endowed scholarships.
Mount Mercy’s endowment ensures the future of our mission and enhances the quality of the educational experience we are able to provide.These non-scholarship endowed funds exist in perpetuity to benefit current and future generations of students. Providing instructional support, technological improvements and library resources, these permanent funds enrich every aspect of the Mount Mercy experience.
