Elementary Education

An elementary education degree prepares students to teach in early childhood, elementary, and/or special education classrooms in Iowa and throughout the world.

Mount Mercy University elementary education students engage in unique partnerships with Cedar Rapids area schools, teaching in collaboration with faculty members and experienced classroom teachers. Elementary education majors gain confidence, skills, and build relationships with elementary students in a variety of hands-on classroom experiences over the course of their degree.

Students may specialize in art or music education. Graduates may also pursue careers in school counseling, teacher leadership, and administration, with continued education through programs such as the university’s Master of Arts in Education.
