Founding Director, School of Nursing | Multi-Campus

St. Ambrose University seeks a visionary leader to serve as the Founding Director of the School of Nursing, a newly established academic unit spanning two campuses. This is a rare opportunity to shape the identity, culture, and strategic direction of a school that will prepare the next generation of nurses to meet the evolving needs of healthcare.

The inaugural director will provide dynamic leadership, foster faculty excellence, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, learner-centered programs that reflect the University’s mission and values. The Director will play a pivotal role in building a collaborative, innovative environment that supports student success and advances the profession of nursing.

Key Responsiblities

  • Establish and lead the School of Nursing across two campuses, ensuring operational efficiency and academic excellence.
  • Oversee program development, accreditation, and continuous improvement for the University’s undergraduate nursing programs.
  • Collaborate with university offices to drive enrollment, retention, and degree completion.
  • Manage budgets ethically and strategically, aligning resources with institutional priorities.
  • Recruit, develop, and support faculty and staff committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service.
  • Build strong partnerships with healthcare organizations, professional networks, and community stakeholders.
  • Facilitate strategic initiatives and alignment across campuses, including regular travel between sites.
  • Serve as a passionate advocate for nursing education within the college and university. 


Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in nursing or a closely related discipline.
  • Eligible for RN licensure in Iowa.
  • Proven leadership experience in nursing education and academic administration.
  • Deep understanding of accreditation standards and program sustainability.
  • Commitment to learner-centered education and student success.
  • Ability to foster faculty development and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Understanding of Catholic intellectual tradition and social teaching, with a willingness to support the University’s mission.
