Medical design and application

Gain the hands-on experience needed for post-graduate success.

Our faculty take pride in supporting students in their academic growth, helping prepare application materials, encouraging job shadow experience, and coaching students in studying for professional placement exams, such as the Pharmacy College Admission Test (PCAT).

Mount Mercy students gain valuable experience by conducting research alongside our dedicated and experienced faculty in laboratory settings and through community collaborations, club activities, and campus events.

Pre-professional programs are undergraduate tracks that prepare you for a professional degree after your bachelor's. These aren't academic majors, they're a set of specialized courses that are typically required before you can be accepted into your next program. Your advisor will help you decide the best major to pair with your pre-professional program and prepare you for your career goals.

Students interested in pre-pharmacy typically choose to major in biology or chemistrywhich offers a popular biochemistry track. Through the lens of our well-planned course schedule, double majors (or combinations of a major and minor) are easy to accomplish.

Internships and experience

Preparation matters.

The required and suggested courses taught by our knowledgeable faculty will be your first step in preparing for work in the retail pharmaceutical sector, drug manufacturing, research facilities, hospitals, and more.

Pre-pharmacists are encouraged to study classes unique to their professional interest, including analytical chemistry, genetics, immunology, biochemistry II, and cell and molecular biology.
