Appreciation for life sciences

Concern for living things and environments we inhabit.

Biology majors receive an education that prepares them for medical careers, research, education, conservation and more.

Our core classes include Genetics, Ecology and General Chemistry, electives in Global Environmental Issues, Human Anatomy, Microbiology, Cell and Molecular Biology, and Animal Behavior give students opportunities to tailor their degree and focus on their passion.

I was able to use my biology degree, along with a few business classes, to lay a good foundation for opening my own business and making it successful.

Develop the intellectual expertise and technical skills

Accomplished faculty help students develop the intellectual expertise and technical skills necessary to succeed in biology-related fields or go on to professional or graduate programs.

Student success is Mount Mercy’s top priority. Individualized advising, small class size, and access to research and internship opportunities put Mount Mercy students ahead of other Eastern Iowa graduates.
