Vicki Petersen joined Mount Mercy in 2019 and serves as the director of the nursing simulation lab.

In this role, Petersen provides nursing scenarios for students in a safe environment in order to facilitate learning. She also helps to coordinate clinical experiences for nursing students and teaches a J-Term skills course for students at the sophomore level.

Petersen’s clinical background is in emergency and critical care. She has experience working in the emergency department and as a flight nurse. Petersen is dedicated to education, evidence-based practice, creating caring and compassionate environments, and combining science, knowledge, and clinical skills.

In her free time, Petersen enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, reading, and crafting.
