A personal letter from your alumni relations coordinator, Josie Takes
It gives me great pleasure to write to you today, as the new Alumni Relations Coordinator at Mount Mercy University. I am a product of the University of Iowa getting my bachelor's degree in Communication Studies, minoring in Human Relations, and obtaining my Nonprofit Management Certificate. Following my undergraduate schooling I began working for the Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival as the Events & Programs Director. In my time with the Freedom Festival I planned all of the festival events, as well as coordinated the volunteer program which used nearly 700 volunteers each year. The wonderful path we call life led me to Mount Mercy University, and so, here I am your Alumni Relations Coordinator!
In just my first few weeks on the job, it has become clear to me that Mount Mercy University students are some of the brightest and most talented. My experience thus far has exceeded my expectations. The Mount Mercy environment is one is positive and uplifting. I feel empowered each day to do new and exciting things for the Alumni. It is my hope to be able to get to work with each and every one of you at some point.
My dreams are big, my goals are set high, but I hope to encourage and foster you to all have lifelong alumni participation, involvement, and commitment. First and foremost, I plan to strengthen the bond between the University and our alumni; to create programs which match the interests and needs of the alumni; to maintain and build upon the positive relationships we have with our more seasoned alumni; to increase the participation, involvement, and communication with our younger alumni; and to continue to serve as the primary communications link between the University and it's alumni.
If you have questions, need more information about Mount Mercy University or any alumni happenings, please let me know. I am always open to suggestions or new ideas. As always if you are interested in being more involved, or if you just want to say hello, please do not hesitate to call me.
The Office of Alumni Relations is located in 204 Warde Hall and is open Monday-Thursday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm and on Friday from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.
