Young Alumni Council

The Mount Mercy University Alumni Association is launching a Young Alumni Council and if you are a graduate of the past 10 years we want you to be a part of it! The Young Alumni Council will be tasked with helping to create, implement, and sustain meaningful lifelong connections with Mount Mercy’s young alumni. The Council will operate as an advisory council and will play an integral role in the planning of MMU young alumni events.

As of today, young alumni make up 29% of the current overall alumni body (3,513 of 12,060 living addressable Mount Mercy graduates) and 12% of our current alumni donors. It is the goal of the MMUAA to develop stronger relationships with the young alumni demographic as we know it will be key to success in promoting and sustaining Mount Mercy University.

  • The Young Alumni Council will consist of 11 young alumni, one current MMU student, and the MMU Director of Alumni Relations.
  • Councilors will be chosen from a variety of graduation years within the outlined demographic and we will strive to seek as much diversity as possible.
  • YAC terms will last three years and councilors should be available to meet in Cedar Rapids three times per calendar year.
  • Each councilor will be responsible for costs associated with travel back to Cedar Rapids as well as any lodging costs for the three on campus meetings each year.
  • Each councilor must serve on either the Programming Committee or the Development & Marketing Committee of the YAC.
