Why Mount Mercy

Why choose Mount Mercy’s Accelerated program over another program or online bachelor’s degree?

  • Because you want a rich learning experience
  • You want to learn with other working adults and talk face-to-face with an experienced professor who knows your name and cares about your success
  • You want an education that’s built on an ethical foundation from a respected local institution

You want Mount Mercy. And the good news is, we want you.

Your Degree On Your Schedule

The Adult Accelerated program is designed to fit your busy life. The key is our block scheduling format. Rather than dividing the academic year into two semesters, we offer classes all year long in 5- and 10-week blocks. Each block consists of one weekly class that meets on weeknights or Saturdays.

New blocks start every five weeks. Block scheduling means flexibility. You can start a new course whenever you’re ready, instead of waiting for a new semester to start. This also allows you to take brief breaks if your work or other responsibilities demand your attention. Since new classes start so often, you won’t fall behind.

Our team will happily help put you on the road to career success.

In Your Neighborhood

Through partnerships with Kirkwood and Hawkeye Community Colleges, we’re proud to serve Eastern Iowa.

  • Hawkeye Community College, serving the Cedar Falls/Waterloo area
  • Mount Mercy University, located on the main campus in Cedar Rapids

Transfer Your Credit

College-level credits earned at regionally accredited institutions are evaluated and may be accepted as credit toward graduation from Mount Mercy. Because some majors require a minimum grade point average, course work is evaluated according to departmental requirements.

  • Two-year colleges — We accept up to 63 credit hours from a two-year college. For approved majors, transfer up to 75 credits with a two-year degree from an Iowa community college. For those with an Associate of Arts or Associate of Applied Science degree in an approved major from Kirkwood Community College or Hawkeye Community College, you may transfer 75 credits.
  • Four-year colleges — Up to 93 credits can be transferred from a four-year accredited college, ACE-recommended institution or military program.

If you have questions about your credit, feel free to send us an email or call 319-861-2392.

Community Connections

In an Adult Accelerated class, your business professor is also the VP of marketing at a local Fortune 1000 company. Your classmates are market research directors, sales managers and human resources executives. The connections you make in the classroom transfer directly into the community, helping you build a robust professional network that includes hundreds of Adult Accelerated Alumni employed with Eastern Iowa businesses.

The Right Price

The flat rate for accelerated classes for the 2016–17 academic year is $450 per credit hour. There are no hidden fees or extra charges other than books. In addition, all adult students are eligible for financial aid in the form of grants and loans. Since many of our students receive reimbursement checks from their workplace, we give you 45 days after your course ends to settle the bill.
