Mount Mercy University departments, clubs, and programs have the ability to create an official Mount Mercy-affiliated presence on social media channels such as Facebook and Twitter after appropriate protocol is followed and approval received (see Required by the University).

Departments, clubs, and programs are responsible for ensuring that content posted by, or on behalf of, their specific entity adheres to all Mount Mercy University social policies (Volume II — Employee Manual, 2.4.13 Technology Use/Ethics/Security Plan, October 2016).

Required by the University:

Those interested in launching an official social media platform affiliated with MMU must schedule a face-to-face meeting with the AD for multimedia marketing prior to creating/launching any new account. (Athletic affiliations must also include the sports information director.) Be ready to discuss your reasoning for a new social media channel, general content plan, posting cadence, and plan for engaging/interacting with followers. 

Once approval is received, login information for the account must be provided to the University’s Office of Marketing & Communications and a staff member in MarCom must be assigned admin rights to the account.
