Creating New MMU Accounts

Those interested in launching an official social media platform affiliated with MMU must schedule a face-to-face meeting with the Office of Marketing & Communications prior to creating/launching any new account. Athletic affiliations must also include the sports information director. Please be prepared to discuss your reasoning for a new social media channel, general content plan, posting cadence, and plan for engaging/interacting with followers. 

Once approval is received, account login information must be provided to the Office of Marketing & Communications, and a MarCom staff member must be assigned admin rights to the account. Departments, clubs, and programs are responsible for ensuring that content posted by, or on behalf of, their specific entity adheres to all Mount Mercy University social policies (Volume II—Employee Manual, 2.4.13 Technology Use/Ethics/Security Plan, October 2016).

Social Media Comment Policy

Mount Mercy University reserves the right to remove the following comments or images: spam, advertising, disrespectful remarks (sexist, racist, abusive, violent, advocating illegal activity, or otherwise), inaccurate or extremely off-topic information, offensive or profane language, and attacks or threats directed toward our students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, families, or other individuals. Users acknowledge their comments are visible to the public, and comments do not necessarily reflect the opinions or policies of Mount Mercy.
