After 37 years as a member of the psychology faculty at Mount Mercy University, Dr. Ron Feldt was granted professor emeritus status at the 2017 Commencement Ceremony, May 21.

Feldt holds a bachelor’s degree from University of Wisconsin–Madison, a master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh, and earned a PhD in psychology from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. Before coming to Mount Mercy in 1980, he taught at the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh.

Feldt’s teaching career touches nearly every graduate of the University’s psychology program. He is admired for his gentle, thoughtful, and genuine interest in his students and colleagues. He has personally mentored over two dozen student-researchers who have presented their own or co-authored research in journals and psychology conferences throughout the Midwest.

For the past 12 years, Feldt has presented research at the Midwestern Psychological Association’s annual conference in Chicago. He has more than 20 publications to his name and has helped foster a culture of scholarship on campus among students and faculty. In addition to research and teaching, Feldt served as faculty chair from 2014 to 2015. He has also filled numerous other leadership roles on campus.

In his spare time, Feldt enjoys biking, snowshoeing, travelling the U.S. and globe with his wife Becky, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
