Recreation & Wellness Programs

Developing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle is personal choice.  We encourage the Mount Mercy community to take advantage of the opportunities available on campus.

The University offers two fitness areas: Lundy Fitness Center and Hennessey Recreation Center. The Lundy Fitness Center offers a cardio and weight area, plus a large group exercise rooms where classes are offered each semester. Hennessey Recreation Center provides offers cardio and weight areas, a racquetball court, and use of the gym when it is not in use by the athletic department.

In addition to these facilities, Mount Mercy participates in Iowa’s Healthiest State Initiative, Cedar Rapids Blue Zone Project, and Live Health Iowa 100 Day Wellness Challenge. programs intended to inspire Iowans and their communities to increase health and happiness.

Brenda joined Mount Mercy in 2003. She holds a Master's of Science Degree in Higher Education Administration from Iowa State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Human Services from Grand View College. Prior to arriving at Mount Mercy, Brenda held positions within the student affairs field at large state universities and smaller private colleges.
