Strong advising and faculty support, proximity to veterinarian services, and our extensive pre-veterinary medicine curriculum make Mount Mercy University ideal for any student preparing for a future in veterinary medicine.

Students following our pre-vet track typically choose between majors and minors in biochemistry, biology, and chemistry. Double majors or combinations of a major and minor can be accomplished easily with a well-planned schedule and steady academic progress.

Beyond core classes, students also take courses tailored to their interests, such as animal behavior, genetics, immunology, general microbiology, cell and molecular biology, and biochemistry II.

Mount Mercy University is known for our student-focused programs and dedicated faculty. Students on pre-professional tracks, such as pre-vet, will benefit from faculty mentoring and coaching in preparation for professional placement exams and support in application preparation and submission to professional programs.
