Political Science Internships

Students often gain practical experience and explore their interests in public service careers through public service internships, where they receive academic credit for supervised field training in public agencies.

Students have completed public service internships in:

  • U.S. Congressional offices, the state legislature, and local government offices
  • Federal and state court systems
  • Non-profit and grassroots organizations
  • Political campaigns
  • Government agencies

Mount Mercy also offers students the opportunity to participate in the Washington D.C. Summer Internship Program or Washington Semester Programavailable through American University.

Want to run a campaign on the Hill? Get involved in Student Government Association, where students help make important decisions that have campus-wide impact.
