ACE is led by professional learning consultants. Students are encouraged to contact ACE directly with any questions or to discuss setting up an initial consultation to discuss academic goals. In addition, peer tutors help students succeed.
Academic Center and Retention Director
Andy Freeman is the Director of the Academic Center for Excellence, and Retention. As the director of ACE, his responsibilities are focused on academic counseling and academic support for students in the Center. As the Director of Retention, he has a larger scope of responsibilities related to campus-wide policies and practices that support the retention of students.
Disability Services Coordinator
Jane Caraway is the Disability Services Coordinator located in the ACE. Her responsibilities include working with students to access identified accommodations and to support student advocacy. She will also serve as a resource to faculty and staff in meeting the general and specific needs of diverse learners. Jane works part-time and so it is best to contact her directly to make an appointment.
Ben is a Writing Specialist in ACE and his responsibilities include working with students to support their writing. He is also responsible for the coordination of the ACE Writing Center and peer writing tutors. Ben works part-time and so it is best to contact him directly to make an appointment.
Nancy Rhodes serves as the ACE Center Manager. She coordinates some of the center functions including our Peer Tutor program. She tutors math, physics, statistics and other problem solving courses as well as teaches algebra in both the traditional and Advance programs.
