Why did you choose MMU?

I chose Mount Mercy because I love the small campus feel and all the caring people around campus. I also chose MMU because of the great cross country program they have.

What is your favorite thing about MMU?

All the events and activities around campus that are put on every week.

Favorite MMU event/activity you have experienced?

My favorite event was when a hypnotist came to campus last year.

What is a fun fact about you?

I never hurdled in my life before coming to college, but I wanted to try the steeplechase. Yes, that is the event that you jump over water. I never thought it would become my main event in track, but I'm glad it did!

I urge you to try something new because you never know when that thing will pay off and you'll like it.

 


 

Annie Ertz

Why did you choose MMU?

The people here create a welcoming and friendly community.

What is your favorite thing about MMU?

Definitely the tunnels! Being able to wear shorts and a t-shirt to class in negative degree weather is great!

Favorite MMU event/activity you have experienced?

There was a Petting Zoo during finals week that was great. Being able to pet a camel and hold bunnies was something new for me!

What is a fun fact about you?

I have a sister who also goes to Mount Mercy. No, she's not my twin, but we are the same grade, and during the first year even shared a dorm.

Why did you choose MMU?

The environment; I felt like I was home, not too big, nor too small.

What is your favorite thing about MMU?

My beliefs and views are accepted and understood.

Favorite MMU event/activity you have experienced?

When there was a panel of staff, faculty, community members, and students held in the UC about immigration.

What is a fun fact about you?

I like to build things—woodwork to be specific.

Why did you choose MMU?

My mom, sister, and uncle all went to MMU and loved it. Plus, the scholarships made it affordable.

What is your favorite thing about MMU?

I like that because it's such a small school. People get to know and remember your name quickly.

Favorite MMU event/activity you have experienced?

I like the Thanksgiving dinner because all the residential students eat together like a family.

What is a fun fact about you?

I'm the shortest orientation leader at 5'0".

Why did you choose MMU?

There were multiple reasons why MMU was the right choice for me. I love the friendly atmosphere and the small, cozy campus. Another great thing is that it is close to family.

What is your favorite thing about MMU?

I love how dedicated the professors are. They go above and beyond to make sure that the students succeed. They are super caring and are also extremely knowledgeable in their fields.

Favorite MMU event/activity you have experienced?

MMU does a great job of hosting fun events on campus for students. I have enjoyed the vast majority of them. I would have to say my favorites were the Trivia Nights and BINGOs. They are a great break from studying!

What is a fun fact about you?

For two years in high school, I was a part of a nationally ranked (1st and 2nd) marching band which included marching in the 2013 Rose Parade in Pasadena, California.

Why did you choose MMU?

I chose Mount Mercy because I loved the idea of having small class sizes and great relationships with fellow students and staff.

What is your favorite thing about MMU?

My favorite thing about Mount Mercy is the friendly and welcoming environment.

Favorite MMU event/activity you have experienced?

My favorite Mount Mercy event that I have experienced was the Bongo Ball Tournament hosted by Intramurals. It was a safer version of paintball and very fun.

What is a fun fact about you?

I am a member of the Women's Golf team.

Why did you choose MMU?

I really enjoyed meeting the faculty in the science department.

What is your favorite thing about MMU?

The community feeling on campus.

Favorite MMU event/activity you have experienced?

Thanksgiving Dinner hands down! I absolutely love Thanksgiving, and it's probably my favorite holiday. I enjoy this event because every resident on campus comes to the dining center and gets to eat with their floor while faculty and staff help and serve the students. Also, a Turkey King and Queen are named.

What is a fun fact about you?

I'm obsessed with elephants

Why did you choose MMU?

I wanted to be on a smaller campus; also, I wanted to know my professors on a one-to-one basis. It's nice when you are walking down the sidewalk to class and you pass 3 or 4 people who know your name.

What is your favorite thing about MMU?

How the upperclassmen take you under their wings and invite the freshmen to do things with them.

Favorite MMU event/activity you have experienced?

I enjoy going to sporting events because of the atmosphere that is created there; also, I enjoy going to the improv shows because it gets your mind off studying and is a way to get rid of stress.

What is a fun fact about you?

I am ambidextrous, which means I use both my left and right hands on a daily bases. So an example would be that I write with my right hand but eat, paint, and shoot hoops with my left hand.

Why did you choose MMU?

Mount Mercy offers a unique educational experience due to the fact that it's a small university, and it allows its students to master the skills they need in their career paths.

What is your favorite thing about MMU?

Everyone it's very friendly, and they become your second family.

Favorite MMU event/activity you have experienced?

One of the hypnotists brought to campus. I had a blast and was hypnotized, which allowed my friends to enjoy the show even more.

What is a fun fact about you?

I speak 4 languages, play 7 instruments, and—for the music geeks—I have a 4-octave vocal range and a whistle register.

Why did you choose MMU?

I chose MMU because of its small size and close-knit community. I also fell in love with the campus and professors.

What is your favorite thing about MMU?

Definitely the people and professors I've gotten close with over the past two years. Everyone on campus is extremely sweet, and I've never felt like a stranger.

Favorite MMU Event/activity you have experienced?

My favorite events are the monthly improv shows where the MMU Improv Team never fails to take my mind off of studying for a few hours!

What is a fun fact about you?

I'm super into movies and watch the Oscars every year like they're the Super Bowl.

Why did you choose MMU?

I chose Mount Mercy because of its small class sizes. The professors that I met during my tour were very helpful and very interested in my well-being, and I loved that! I also chose Mount Mercy because I felt it was a place that I could fit in and thrive during college.

What is your favorite thing about MMU?

My favorite thing about Mount Mercy is the close-knit community. There are professors that you don't even have classes with, but still know your name and ask how you are doing. I love that about Mount Mercy, and it is a small school where you are bound to have someone say "Hi!" to you when you are walking to class.

Favorite MMU Event/activity you have experienced?

My favorite event was an outdoor concert that was hosted by the Mount Mercy Activity Programming Board. It featured an artist named Brandon Chase, and it was held right outside of the University Center, with a stage set up and cool lights! I was even able to meet the artist and his band after the concert which was really cool!

What is a fun fact about you?

I was the Dubuque County Dairy Princess Alternate from March 2014–March 2015.

Why did you choose MMU?

I chose MMU because of the atmosphere and the people. I'm from a small town and went to a small school, so I love having my new home away from home.

What is your favorite thing about MMU?

The people and the fact there is always something to do on campus!

Favorite MMU Event/activity you have experienced?

My favorite MMU event is the CheMMUsicals that take place during the year. This is where the Science Club does science experiments to music. It's a great laugh as well.

What is a fun fact about you?

A fun fact about me is: I'm born on Christmas Day.

Why did you choose MMU?

I chose Mount Mercy because I felt like it gave me the best chance for success both in and out of the classroom. I really liked how it was conveniently located and small.

What is your favorite thing about MMU?

I love how close everyone is on campus. Everyone becomes part of the Mount Mercy family, which makes transitioning to college less challenging and more fun.

Favorite MMU Event/activity you have experienced?

BINGO Night!! Prizes are handed out for winning. There are many things whether it be anywhere from concert tickets to even a box of fruit snacks. It is really fun and it gets a lot of students involved on campus.

What is a fun fact about you?

I have two pet fish!
