Mount Mercy University will provide a documentary film festival spread over three days and three different films to help bring awareness to issues such as food, agriculture and the alternative food market. The films uniquely display elements that inspire as well as educate, getting at the heart of issues that go much deeper than food. The films, King Corn, Fresh, and Lunch Line, will be shown free and open to the public. Seating may be limited.

Mount Mercy University, in continuing its commitment to sustainability, has become a member of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) to further campus efforts toward building a healthy and just world. Through membership in AASHE, Mount Mercy will receive continued support in advancing its sustainability initiatives throughout the institution and in the community.

Mount Mercy welcomed special guest Sr. Mary Jean Ryan, FSM, Chair and CEO of SSM Health Care as the annual MBA speaker on October 4. Her lecture, "Accountability: The Pathway to Excellence" urged audiences to consider the positive impact accountability can have over employees and workplace goals.

Mount Mercy University has announced that Duff Ridgeway has been named vice president for development, effective October 17. As vice president for the development office, Ridgeway will oversee campaign, development, alumni, annual fund and grant-writing operations.

Mount Mercy students in Professor of Art Jane Gilmor's "New Genres" class undertook a unique project that examined the historic White Elephant thrift store in Cedar Rapids. The result is five student-created installations that draw from inspiration from the building and aspects of the past.
