Mount Mercy University is pleased to announce the appointment of Jeff Cannon to its board of trustees. Cannon is president and CEO of Diamond V and a Mount Mercy alumnus. “As Mount Mercy continues to focus on growth in key areas, Jeff’s keen business sense and connection to the community will help support our efforts,” said University President Laurie Hamen. “We’re proud to have him back on the Hill, and I look forward to his valuable insight and leadership.”

A double major in criminal justice and nursing may seem like an unusual educational pairing, but it was the perfect combination for Megan Rausch ’07. When Jason Sole, former drug dealer, notorious street gang member and three-time convicted felon, decided to turn his life around, he turned to education. Sole will share his inspiring story on Thursday, Oct. 12 at 8 p.m. in Mount Mercy University’s Chapel of Mercy. The middle of three children, Sole was raised in Chicago and joined a gang to gain a position of authority and to financially improve his life. As a result of his criminal activity, Sole has been incarcerated in numerous correctional facilities.

Mount Mercy University will host a musical fundraiser on Oct. 8 at 2:30 p.m. in Mount Mercy’s Chapel of Mercy to raise money for Fresh Start Jail Ministries (Linn County Correctional Chaplaincy). The concert will feature Mount Mercy’s University Choir and University Band. In lieu of an admittance fee, donations are encouraged.
