The new University Center at Mount Mercy University is a model of what energy-efficient buildings can look like and offer in energy savings in Eastern Iowa. The university recently worked with Interstate Power and Light Company (IPL), an Alliant Energy company, to design the latest and best energy-savings techniques and technologies into the building from the start of construction. CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Wet field conditions at Tomahawk Park have forced a location change for today's Midwest Collegiate Conference Softball Tournament pod. Both games on today's schedule have been moved to the Coe College campus in Cedar Rapids. Seventh-seeded Viterbo (Wis.) will now face fourth-seeded Iowa Wesleyan at 3:00 p.m. with third-seeded Mount Mercy taking on the winner at 5:00 p.m. Tomorrow's schedule is unchanged.

Mount Mercy continues to implement environmentally-conscious initiatives on campus, keeping with the spirit of its founders, the Sisters of Mercy. The institution has recently implemented a new initiative to cut down on the number of plastic water bottles used on campus by providing unique “water bottle friendly” water fountains.

Mount Mercy University will present a series of One Act plays May 4 & 5 at 7:30 p.m. each evening in the McAuley Theater. The plays, collectively titled Back in the Future, are free and open to the public, seating may be limited.
