Though Malinda Shoaf’s journey to Mount Mercy University was full of roadblocks and potholes, the junior nursing major is doing what she can to give back to the world, raising money to offer residents of Sunnycrest Nursing Center in Dysart, Iowa, a bit of a pampered life. Malinda is collecting donations to offer hand treatments to 25 residents of the nursing center, a plan born out of the realization that not every nursing home resident will receive the attention and love deserved this holiday season.

In Process, a new gallery exhibit, will feature the process of how Mount Mercy University art students reach their polished pieces. A lecture detailing the purpose and work within the exhibit will take place Nov. 17, 4–5 p.m. in Betty Cherry Heritage Hall. An opening reception will immediately follow in the Janalyn Hanson White Gallery until 7 p.m.

Nationally known nurse, speaker and author LeAnn Thieman will share her mission of rescuing orphaned children from the devastation that was the Vietnam War on Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of Mercy on Mount Mercy University’s campus.

Mount Mercy University announced today that it has been designated a Military Friendly® School by Victory Media for the fifth consecutive year. The list, now in its seventh year, provides service members and their families with transparent, data-driven ratings about post-military education and career opportunities.
