CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Just 24 hours prior, the Mustangs battle five sets to collected a conference win. Tonight, the Mustangs hosted the No. 10 Pride of Clarke University and stunned the nationally-ranked team with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-17) sweep. With this win, the Mustangs roll on a seven-match win streak moving to 10-4 overall and 3-0 in the Heart of America Conference.To start the match, both teams struggled offensively hitting less than .100. However, the Mustangs tallied four more kills to give them the slight advantage in set one.

Spring Lecture Series

Recent studies conducted by the Pew Research Center show one of the top reasons young people abandon their Christian faith is because they believe it conflicts with science. To address this topic, three nationally known Catholic scholars will visit Mount Mercy University for a new spring lecture series titled Explorations in Faith & Reason.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – After the thrill of upsetting the No.1 team in the country last week, the Mustangs were ready to showcase their talent on the home court. The Mustangs opened the 2019 season at home with a five-set thriller over the Wildcats of Culver-Stockton College. The Mustangs defeated the Wildcats 3-2 (25-17, 24-26, 23-25, 25-17, 15-11).

ExploreU World of Technology, Mount Mercy University’s week-long science, technology, engineering and math program for middle-school-aged girls, once again earned a grant from Transamerica. The grant provides support for program development, student scholarships, mentor scholarships and faculty development. “We’re thankful for the generous support of Transamerica,” said Elizabeth Kleiman, associate professor of computer science and ExploreU co-founder. “Together, we are dedicated to continuing to advance the STEM fields.”

CRETE, Neb. – The Mount Mercy Track and Field Teams competed at the Heart of America Indoor Conference Championships Friday and Saturday. Amongst steep competition, the women finished in fourth place and men in sixth of 11 teams. Both team finishes were improved from last year's performances. Individually, many Mustangs finished within the top five in several events.

DES MOINES, Iowa – Coming off an undefeated weekend, the Mustangs were looking to keep the ball rolling. Standing in their way were the No. 1 Vikings of Grand View University. With a tough matchup on the road to start Heart of America Conference play, the Mustangs dropped the first two sets. However, in the latter half of the third, the Mustangs would snag the momentum from the home team and ride it out to defeat the Vikings 3-2 (22-25, 30-32, 25-20, 25-22, 20-18).

Adam Hammes, author of “Sustainable Business in Iowa,” will speak on Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 6:30 p.m. in Flaherty Community Room, Basile Hall. His talk, “How Leading Companies Profit from Environmental and Social Responsibility,” will provide a simple framework to understand the complex topic of sustainability and implement change.
