More than 270 Mount Mercy University students are teaming up with local organizations to help with service projects around the city during Mustangs in Action Day, Tuesday, Aug. 22, 9 a.m.–Noon. For the third consecutive year, Mount Mercy students are encouraged to explore Cedar Rapids while participating in service projects. Organizations involved include Catherine McAuley Center, Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance, Discovery Living, Feed Iowa First and Jane Boyd Community House.

Country duo Dan + Shay will be performing at Mount Mercy University on Friday, Sept. 8. Doors will open at 7 p.m. and the show will begin at 7:30 p.m. Dan + Shay's sophomore album, Obsessed, featuring current single “How Not To,” debuted in June 2016 and follows their 2014 album Where It All Began. Their first album included the debut single, “19 You + Me,” which earned RIAA Platinum certification, and their first No. 1 single, “Nothin’ Like You,” which earned RIAA Gold certification.

Mount Mercy University is set to welcome more than 235 singers to campus Tuesday and Wednesday for its annual All-State Choral Workshop. The workshop, now in its fifth year and expecting more participants than ever, prepares high school students in the Iowa All-State Choral repertoire.
