Mount Mercy University was named one of the best colleges in Iowa by LearnHowToBecome.org. Mount Mercy placed eleventh on the list of all nonprofit 4-year schools in the state, including all three regent universities.

As an accounting and business administration major, Kathy (Halvorsen) Enstrom ’96 didn’t expect to land an internship in criminal investigation with the Internal Revenue Service. But after a friend saw a job announcement posted outside of associate professor Steve Gilmour’s office, Enstrom’s 21-year career with the government agency began.

Award-winning poet Jennifer Perrine will visit Mount Mercy University Thursday, April 6, as part of the Visiting Writers Series. Perrine is the author of “No Confession, No Mass,” winner of the 2016 Publishing Triangle Audre Lorde Award and the 2014 Prairie Schooner Book Prize in Poetry. Her previous books include “In the Human Zoo,” recipient of the 2010 Agha Shahid Ali Poetry Prize, and “The Body Is No Machine,” winner of the 2008 Devil’s Kitchen Reading Award in Poetry.
