Mount Mercy College announced today that enrollment for the Spring 2010 semester has increased 5.6% percent since Spring 2009. Total enrollment for Spring 2010 is 1,671 students. The new enrollment numbers include Mount Mercy’s four distinct student populations of traditional, transfer, adult and graduate students. The enrollment for Spring 2009 was 1,582.

Mount Mercy College has announced that it will launch new graduate programs in nursing and counseling, beginning Fall 2010. The Master of Science in Nursing program will feature emphases in health promotion and disease prevention focus, and is a 36 credit hour program that can be completed in 18 months. The Masters of Arts in Counseling and Therapy: Couple and Family Therapy Specialization is a 60 credit hour program that can be completed in two years.

Students with a semester grade point average of 3.60 or better and who are graded (letter grade, not pass/fail) for six or more semester hours are eligible for inclusion on the Dean's List. A PDF of the entire Dean's List can be found under the Office of Academic Affairs.

Mount Mercy College will hold an informational open house on Thursday, January 14  from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at the Jones Regional Educational Center, Kirkwood Community College’s new facility in Monticello, located at 220 Welter Drive.

Mount Mercy College has announced the following staff promotions. Director of Communications and Marketing Molly Altorfer has been named assistant vice president for communications and marketing. Director for Institutional Research Lori Heying has been named executive director of institutional research. Altorfer and Heying began their new roles January 1, 2010.

The Mount Mercy College Choir and Jazz Connection presented a ceremony of traditional readings and carols of the season on Wednesday, December 2 at 7:30 p.m. The concert took place in Stello Performance Hall, Warde Hall, and was free and open to the public. The choir performed Psallite by Michael Praetorius, Carol of the Candle by Stephen Paulus, My Dancing Day, arranged by Alice Parker and Robert Shaw, Sing We All Noel, arranged by Gary Parks, and Christmas Day by Gustav Holst.

Mount Mercy College will hold a Master of Business Administration Information Session on Thursday, November 12 at 5:30 Flaherty Community Room, Basile Hall. The application fee will be waived for all attendees.The MBA Information Session will include an overview of the accelerated format and curriculum of Mount Mercy’s graduate program, a question and answer session with current students and faculty, door prizes, information on Mount Mercy’s financial aid opportunities, and an optional campus tour.
