Mount Mercy University will take time to celebrate the Catholic heritage of the university and Catherine McAuley, founder of the Sisters of Mercy, during Mercy and Mission Week, Sept. 20-26. The week-long series of events will feature the Sisters of Mercy as they visit classrooms to help connect their critical concerns—immigration, nonviolence, racism, women and earth—to classroom teachings.

In a statement today, Mount Mercy President Christopher Blake, Ph.D., welcomed the election of Pope Francis as the new leader of the Catholic church. Pope Francis, Jorge Mario Bergoglio, is the 266th pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church and is a native of Argentina.
