NAIA Cross Country Championships

The city of Cedar Rapids will welcome hundreds of runners and thousands of fans to next week's NAIA Cross Country National Championships, hosted by Mount Mercy University at Seminole Valley Park. The women's 5K and men's 8K races are slated for Friday, Nov. 16. The day begins with the 39th Annual NAIA Women's Cross Country National Championship at 10:30 a.m., followed by the 63rd Annual NAIA Men's Cross Country National Championship at 11:30 a.m. An awards ceremony will follow at the Cedar Rapids Marriott at approximately 1:30 p.m.

Branch Races to All-America Status; Men’s Golf Earns National Tournament Berth → Track & field’s Bri’anna Branch earned All-America honors, the men’s golf team qualified for the NAIA national tournament for the second time in school history, and the Mount Mercy athletics department set a new standard in the classroom to conclude another successful season in 2015–16.

Mount Mercy University inducted the Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2016 on Sept. 24, with Brandon Bradley ’07, Nick Miller ’09, and David and Lonna ’86 Drewelow during Alumni Reunion Weekend.

Mount Mercy University is hosting the second annual Good Sport Day for students in Arthur Elementary on Friday, September 21, and Erskine Elementary on Friday, September 28. Through this event, elementary students will have the opportunity to learn best practices for conflict resolution as Mount Mercy students will demonstrate good and bad sportsmanship conduct in role playing sessions. The event will also include a presentation of nutritious snack choices and free time to run around and play in the university's gymnasium.
