Mount Mercy University Associate Provost & Executive Director for Academic Innovation Dr. Tom Castle was awarded the Council for Accelerated Programs Lifetime Achievement Award for his work with adult students. Only three others have received the prestigious award.

Mount Mercy University was recognized as a top choice for online education in Iowa by, placing in the top five institutions on the list. rankings are instrumental tools for students choosing which online college is best suited for their unique needs.

Mount Mercy University received one of Iowa’s top spots on Money magazine’s “Best Colleges” ranking, beating out every other Iowa school in the list’s value-added category. The Time-affiliated magazine ranked Mount Mercy 147 out of 1,500 four-year colleges and named the university one of “The 50 Best Colleges That You Can Actually Get Into.” The rankings were based on 21 factors in three equally-weighted categories: educational quality, affordability and alumni earnings.

The Mount Mercy Times won 15 awards, including three first-place awards, seven second-place awards, two third place awards and three honorable mentions at the Iowa College Media Association convention Feb. 6 in Des Moines. Fourteen of the awards were in the ICMA “Better Newspaper” contest, recognizing the Mount Mercy Times newspaper. The other award was in the Multi-Media competition, which included the Times web site.

13 regional championships.  More than 1,650 community members served through service projects that explore entrepreneurial action. 3 national recognitions for Mount Mercy alumni and current students. Mount Mercy has a storied history with the Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) organization. And now, it transfers that success and engagement to Enactus.

Mount Mercy University's two highest awards for graduates were presented during the 2011 Commencement ceremony on May 22 at the U.S. Cellular Center. Kelsey K. Hansen, a nursing major from Alton, Iowa, received the Catherine McAuley Award, the highest honor given to a student who has attended Mount Mercy for four years. Elizabeth Drop, a psychology major from Iowa City, Iowa, received the Mary Frances Warde Award, the highest honor given to a student who transferred to Mount Mercy.
