ExploreU World of Technology, Mount Mercy University’s week-long summer science, technology, engineering and math program for middle-school-aged girls, once again earned a generous grant from Transamerica. The grant provides support for program development, student scholarships, mentor scholarships and faculty development.

Registration is open for Mount Mercy University’s popular ExploreU World of Technology summer program, a week-long event that provides role models and fun activities to middle-school-aged girls interested in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). To make registration and scholarship applications more accessible, the forms are now available online at bit.ly/1OQcab6.

Mount Mercy University will host, for the fifth year, ExploreU World of Technology, a week-long summer program which provides role models to middle-school girls interested in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Because of the program’s popularity, ExploreU is now offering two sections for newcomers, June 20–25 and July 11–16, and a special session for returning students, June 20–25.

Professors Elizabeth Kleiman and Jitka Stehnova from Mount Mercy University’s Department of Natural and Applied Sciences recently received a financial grant from the Aegon Transamerica Foundation. The grant will help fund ExploreU, Mount Mercy’s week-long summer camp for middle school girls interested in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) professions.

For the third year, Mount Mercy University will host ExploreU@MMU World of Technology, a week-long summer program for middle-school girls interested in math and computer science.  Dr. Jitka Stehnova, assistant professor of mathematics, and Dr. Elizabeth Kleiman, assistant professor of computer science, will coordinate this year’s program thanks to support from a Tensor Women and Mathematics Grant through the Mathematical Association of America.

Mount Mercy University welcomed more than 50 participants of all ages during the inaugural STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) Moms’ Night Out presentation on April 23.
