ExploreU World of Technology, Mount Mercy University’s week-long summer science, technology, engineering and math program for middle-school-aged girls, once again earned a generous grant from Transamerica. The grant provides support for program development, student scholarships, mentor scholarships and faculty development. “We’re thankful for the generous support of Transamerica,” said Elizabeth Kleiman, assistant professor of computer science and ExploreU co-founder. “Their support shows they believe in our ExploreU program and they are dedicated to advancing the STEM fields.”

The new “Ideas into Action” mini-grant program celebrates its official launch on Monday, November 12, 2012 with information tables in the University Center and the lobby of Basile. Visitors will receive free bookmarks, recyclable ballpoint pens, and lip balm during the weeklong awareness event, finishing on Thursday, November 15. Eight campus locations will feature posters through Sunday, November 25, and marketing efforts will continue through the fall semester.

Mount Mercy University has been awarded a $125,000 grant from the Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust in support of undergraduate research and inquiry-based curriculum in the biology and chemistry programs.
