Mount Mercy University welcomes Middle East experts Kathy Kelly and Ann Wright to campus Wednesday, May 4, 7 p.m., Flaherty Community Room, Basile Hall. The two will offer a program titled “Peace is a Must: Wars and the Refugee Crises in the Middle East and Africa” as part of Mount Mercy’s ongoing Global Issues Series. Sponsored by the three Iowa chapters of Veterans For Peace, Kelly and Wright seek to raise the level of Iowans’ understanding of the causal relationship between U.S. war activities and the refugee crisis.

Mount Mercy University will host activist, poet, writer and lawyer Héctor Efrén Flores on Tuesday, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m. in Flaherty Community Room, Basile Hall, as a part of its popular Global Issues Series. The series, launched in Fall 2010, provides a platform for academic discourse and critical analysis of important social, political and economic issues of global concern.

Mount Mercy University Professor of Sociology Mohammad Chaichian, Ph.D., will present a special faculty forum titled, "Revisiting the Berlin Wall" on Tuesday, November 27, at 7:00 p.m. in Basile Hall's Flaherty Community Room. The forum is free and open to the public; seating may be limited.
