Mount Mercy University’s Enactus team proudly presented a check today for over $11,000 to African Women Empowered, a local group that took part in the student group’s popular #Sandbags2Handbags initiative.

Mount Mercy University senior and Enactus student leader Miranda Hammes is one of 20 college students from Iowa and California selected for the first class of the new Principal Community Scholars Program. This new program from Principal Financial Group of Des Moines, Iowa is designed to encourage student leadership to meet community needs and comes with a $1,000 scholarship after completion.

Mount Mercy University was honored in October for its commitment to meaningful community service. The university made the national 2014 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, an honor given to institutions that demonstrate relevant and meaningful service and achieve measurable impacts in the community.
