Mount Mercy University senior and Enactus student leader Miranda Hammes is one of 20 college students from Iowa and California selected for the first class of the new Principal Community Scholars Program. This new program from Principal Financial Group of Des Moines, Iowa is designed to encourage student leadership to meet community needs and comes with a $1,000 scholarship after completion.

Mount Mercy University was named a Top 50 Best Regional University — Midwest by U.S. News & World Report’s 2017 Best College rankings.

Mount Mercy University began its 2016-17 academic year with the largest enrollment in the university’s nearly 90 year history—an estimated total of 1886 students. The fall 2016 student body is on track to set records in number of traditional freshmen, residential students, student-athletes, new online students and international students.

Mount Mercy University has developed a new program to improve graduation rates for low-income, first generation students. The initiative, named Project Connect, will launch this fall thanks to a $310,000 grant from the Chicago-based Caerus Foundation.
