Crews resume field work as spring temperatures set in. The 22-acre athletic complex has been abuzz over winter preparing to welcome six of Mount Mercy's athletic teams home this fall. A busy winter Although most outdoor work was put on pause during the icy winter months, the indoor facilities have seen an incredible amount of activity.

Mount Mercy University is pleased to announce the purchase of the Barry K. Wendt Building and neighboring warehouse, located at 909 17th Street NE. The purchase was made possible by a substantial lead gift from John Rinderknecht, Mount Mercy trustee and president of Ram Development Company.

Update: The 4 p.m. Public Groundbreaking Ceremony will take place at 651 19thStreet NE. Parking will be available in Mount Mercy University’s Upper/Lower Andreas Lot with shuttle to the ceremony (shuttle leaves in front of Basile Hall). Grading work wraps up as concrete footings are poured at field sites. Public groundbreaking ceremony set for Friday, Oct. 28. Crews have completed much of the groundwork beneath the athletic complex's surface, paving way for more visible project milestones.

…“We are under full construction mode now,” Callahan said. “The excavation of the site, we’re hoping will all be completed by the end of next week.” With excavation out of the way, Callahan said the project focus can turn to the grading of the fields and laying foundations for the locker room building and other structures at the complex. Construction continues at The Robert W. Plaster Athletic Complex. Crews worked amidst light sprinkles on Friday, July 29; the project is running smoothly and on schedule. Groundwork remains the focus at the construction site as sewer lines are relocated and the field is leveled and prepared for new facilities, according to contractor Rinderknecht Associates.
