[threecol_two]Wow, have we come a long way since the start of the Unity Campaign—the most successful fundraising effort in Mount Mercy’s almost 90-year history. We set out to raise an ambitious $35 million—at the start of the global recession recovery no less. And we did it. We did it together, raising almost $37 million!

By Nick Anderson More than 70 leaders in Catholic higher education have signed a statement of solidarity with undocumented students, urging protection for those who arrived in the United States as children at a time when the incoming Trump administration is pledging to crack down on illegal immigration.
Taylor Zumbach is a graduating senior public relations major with minors in journalism and psychology at Mount Mercy University. She also has been managing editor of the Mount Mercy Times and a public relations and communications intern at TaxAct. She is from Coggon, Iowa.

From IowaWatch.org, Search For Civil Speech On College Campuses Collides With First Amendment Making Boundaries: The Impact of Defining Speech Limists on College Campuses The 2016 College Media Project, Making Boundaries, brought together fourteen students from six Iowa colleges. The project examined whether or not limits exist for speech and expression on college campuses.

To celebrate the fall inauguration of President Laurie Hamen, Mount Mercy University has partnered with Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity (CVHFH) to construct three new Cedar Rapids homes. As announced in December, Mount Mercy faculty, staff and students will provide labor for CVHFH Youth United and Pope Francis Build projects.

Mount Mercy University President Laurie Hamen will present ideas for fostering professional success during Women Honoring Innovation & Passion (WHIP) on Thursday, Oct. 9. Three Sixty Blue Sky Events, an organization committed to the professional growth of women, will host WHIP at the Doubletree by Hilton Conference Center in downtown Cedar Rapids from 8 a.m. - noon.
